The Bkejwanong Youth Council is dedicated to build, reconnect, and grow their community with kinship, unity, and positive change

Mission

  • To inspire, encourage, and support Indigenous Youth to be involved and active in the community
  • To self-advocate for themselves and others
  • Live in a good way and help connect them back to their language and culture

Vision

  • “Walpole Island First Nation youth are provided more activities and opportunities for wholistic growth (Spiritually, Emotionally, Mentally, Physically, Economically) and are provided with the means to transition to adulthood seamlessly.”

Our Purpose

  • Be a voice for Indigenous youth
  • Be role models for Indigenous youth
  • Create and provide more opportunities that may allow for positive change for Indigenous youth and for them to be involved and active in the community
  • Maintain strong, positive relationships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Traditional Persons to preserve cultural teachings and Anishinaabemowin language for future generations
  • Encourage the development of programs and services directed at social, cultural, and community needs of Indigenous youth
